Black CAP Selected as a Beneficiary of the 2009 Pride and Remembrance Run

Black CAP will join Casey House as a beneficiary of the 2009 Pride and Remembrance Run (PRA). The 5k Run takes place every Pride weekend and is an event that raises funds to support services in Toronto’s LGBTQ communities. As a beneficiary Black CAP will receive a grant from PRA to hire two peer educators to deliver HIV and STI prevention education to LGBTQ youth in Toronto.

This grant allows us to extend our reach into vulnerable communities and meaningfully engage youth in our work. Black CAP doesn’t just plan to be a beneficiary however, we also plan to be highly involved in the Run. This means we need you to run or walk in support of both Black CAP and the PRA and collect pledges to support this important event. If you would like to be involved please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Yvon Hunte ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The staff, volunteers, clients and Board of Black CAP would like to say a big thank you to the PRA for their generous support of Toronto’s Black LGBTQ communities and for recognizing the importance of reducing rates of HIV infection in youth. We’re lacing up our running shoes and we look forward to getting out on the streets in June with the PRA.
